tl;dr
  • The main PAWCAT pool on PumpSwap was created at 19:54 UTC on October 31.
  • A rival token called "paws at you" with the ticker PAWS was also up more than 400% on the same meme.
  • Same-name PAWCAT copies appeared on Robinhood Chain and Base within hours, with little or no trading.

The pawcat memecoin was the biggest percentage gainer among Solana memes on November 1. PAWCAT, a token built on the viral "Paws at You" cat meme, was up about 6,800% over 24 hours with roughly $3.3 million in volume, according to sasa's daily board. At our DEX Screener check at 06:01 UTC (09:01 MSK), its main pool showed a market cap near $3.2 million.

What actually happened

"Paws at You" is a cat meme that, in the words of PAWCAT's website, shows a cat "putting its paws right at you." The site describes the token as bringing that meme to Solana, says the meme is "taking over X" and invites the community to make variants. It also tells visitors to verify the contract before trading and ends with "DYOR. Memes are not financial advice."

The token moved fast. sasa ranked PAWCAT first among Solana's biggest gainers for November 1, among coins with at least $10,000 of daily volume, and fifth on its most-traded list. The same board shows a second token for the same meme, "paws at you" (PAWS), up about 412% with around $2.2 million of volume and a market cap near $627,000.

The numbers behind the pawcat memecoin

At our check, the main Solana pool showed:

  • Market cap: about $3.23 million
  • 24-hour volume: about $3.29 million
  • Liquidity: about $157,000
  • Change: about +6,650% over 24 hours, but about -17% over six hours

Compared with many weekend memes, the ratios here are less extreme. Daily volume roughly matched the market cap, and liquidity was a meaningful fraction of both. That suggests real two-way trading rather than pure bot churn, although it says nothing about who holds the supply.

The six-hour figure matters. A token up thousands of percent on the day but down 17% since the early hours is already giving back gains, which is common once the first wave of buyers starts taking profit.

Two tokens, one cat. In meme markets, the meme itself is free, and anyone can mint it.

Why this one moved more than most

Timing helped. Saturday night was crowded with hack-themed tokens, and a light-hearted cat meme offered a break from Binance and North Korea jokes. sasa counted 914 new Solana meme pools on November 1, and most of them never cleared a few thousand dollars in market cap. PAWCAT standing out from that crowd says more about the meme's reach on X than about any feature of the token itself.

The pawcat memecoin also has a website, an X account and a Telegram group linked on DEX Screener, which many overnight launches lack. That is a low bar, not a safety guarantee.

The copycat problem

DEX Screener lists several other PAWCAT contracts: two on Robinhood Chain, two on Base and another on Solana, most created within hours of the original and showing zero or near-zero volume at our check. None of them is connected to the main token beyond the name.

That is the same pattern we saw with safu memecoins and the clone-heavy Robinhood Chain launches covered in robinhood chain meme losses. Once a name trends, copies follow, and new buyers searching by ticker can easily land on the wrong one.

The rival PAWS token adds another layer. Two separate projects are competing for the same meme, and attention can swing between them overnight. Whichever one loses the narrative usually fades first.

What could happen next

Cat memes have a long track record in crypto, but most single-meme tokens peak within days. The pawcat memecoin will need fresh content and community activity to keep attention once the original image stops trending. If the meme keeps spreading on X, both tokens could see more volatility in either direction.

What to do as a reader

Copy the contract address from the project's own site or a trusted tracker such as DEX Screener, and compare it before every trade. Several tokens share the name.

Check holder concentration and whether liquidity is locked. A $157,000 pool can still be drained or swamped by a few large wallets.

Look at the six-hour and one-hour charts, not just the headline daily gain.

Nothing here is investment advice. Fresh memecoins can lose most of their value within hours.

Not financial advice. DYOR, ser.
