blob memecoin: Big Blob of Compute Token Tops $1.4M
The blob memecoin, a Solana token based on Dario Amodei's Big Blob of Compute idea, crossed a $1.4M market cap on November 1 and was up about 1,040% in 24 hours.
Early story. Some claims here are not officially confirmed yet. We update this post as it confirms.

- BLOB pictures AI's appetite for compute as a hungry orange pet that eats chips, power plants and data centers.
- Its website says it is an independent meme with no affiliation to Anthropic.
- The pool showed roughly $900,000 in 24-hour volume against about $99,000 of liquidity.

The blob memecoin is the latest token to turn an AI idea into a joke with a price chart. BLOB, a Solana meme token built around Anthropic co-founder Dario Amodei's "Big Blob of Compute" hypothesis, crossed a $1.4 million market cap at 05:16 UTC on November 1, TokenPost reported. At our DEX Screener check at 06:01 UTC (09:01 MSK), its main pool was up about 1,040% over 24 hours.
What actually happened
The "Big Blob of Compute" is a real phrase from AI history. According to BLOB's own site, it comes from a research memo Amodei wrote in 2017 while at OpenAI, which he revisited in a February 2026 interview. The core idea is simple: pour enough compute and data into a model and capability keeps rising.
The token's creators gave that idea a face. TokenPost describes the concept as an always-hungry orange AI pet, with the joke aimed at rising computing costs, subscription bills and worries about AI and jobs. The site lets visitors "feed" the blob a chip, a power station or a data center and tallies a fictional food bill that never ends.
DEX Screener shows the main BLOB pool on PumpSwap was created at 15:36 UTC on October 31. By early Sunday it had climbed into the low seven figures, while a same-name copy on Robinhood Chain sat near a $4,000 market cap with no meaningful volume.
The numbers on the blob memecoin
At our check, the main Solana pool showed:
- Market cap: about $1.40 million
- 24-hour volume: about $900,000
- Liquidity: about $99,000
- Change: about +1,040% over 24 hours and about +430% over six hours
sasa's November 1 Solana board listed BLOB among the day's biggest gainers, alongside another AI-themed token named after Anthropic itself. The volume-to-liquidity ratio is high but less extreme than many hack-themed coins this weekend, which hints at slightly more organic trading.
The joke lands because it is half true: AI really does run on ever-bigger piles of compute, and someone pays the bill.
Why AI memes keep pumping
AI narratives have been one of the most reliable meme themes this year, especially when a big lab is in the news. Anthropic recently announced an S-1 filing for a proposed IPO, which we covered in anthropic s-1 filing. BLOB's site even lists that announcement as the blob's "latest meal."
The danger is that name recognition can be borrowed without permission. We wrote about a much uglier case in anthropic memecoin rug, where a BNB Chain token named after the company traded hundreds of millions of dollars in a day and then saw its pool drained to almost nothing. A clever concept does not protect buyers from the same mechanics.
Red flags to check
The token is barely a day old. There is no published team, no lockup information on the site and no utility beyond the meme. Like most pump.fun launches, supply concentration and early-wallet behavior matter far more than the artwork.
Copycats are already appearing on other chains. The same name and ticker on a different contract can look identical in a wallet search, so the address is the only reliable identifier.
It is also worth asking who benefits from the attention around the blob memecoin. Early buyers who got in near the October 31 launch are sitting on large paper gains, and every new headline gives them a fresh pool of buyers to sell into. That does not mean anyone is acting in bad faith, but it is how most fresh memecoin charts end up shaped: a sharp spike, then a long slide as early wallets take profit.
Finally, the theme depends on outside news. If Anthropic or the wider AI sector goes quiet, the blob has nothing new to "eat," and memes without fresh fuel usually lose attention quickly.
What to do as a reader
Treat the blob memecoin as entertainment, not exposure to Anthropic or AI growth. The project itself says it is not affiliated with the company.
Verify the contract address on a tracker such as DEX Screener, and check liquidity and holder distribution before touching it.
Watch the six-hour chart as well as the daily gain. Fresh memes often peak within a day or two of their first big headline.
Nothing here is investment advice. Small memecoins can lose most of their value in hours.
