bitcoin october 30 odds sit right on the $80,000 knife edge after the Fed hold, with Polymarket pricing that line near 51% Yes at 06:23 UTC (09:23 MSK) on Thursday, October 29. CoinGecko had BTC near $80,157 at the earlier 06:11 UTC stamp, down about 0.8% on the day, after CoinDesk said bitcoin rebounded above roughly $81,400 ahead of Wednesday's decision.
What actually happened
Wednesday's Federal Reserve decision removed the immediate "will they hike today" question. CNBC reported a hold at 3.75%–4% with Cook and Hammack dissenting for +25 bps. Crypto still had to digest the hawkish tilt into Thursday's open, which is why the daily bitcoin ladder tightened around $80,000 instead of sprinting higher.
CoinDesk's October 28 wrap said bitcoin rose above about $81,400 as Asian chip stocks rallied, with US spot bitcoin ETFs taking in $176 million on Tuesday per Farside. That rebound set up a close fight on the October 30 noon ET print: spot was only a few hundred dollars above the headline strike at our Thursday morning CoinGecko read.
Short-dated Polymarket brackets care about every few hundred dollars near a round number. A $80,157 spot print with 51% Yes on "above $80,000" is basically the market saying pure coin-flip territory on the Binance candle. Overnight Asia and early Europe flows can still shove that lean either way before noon Eastern on the 30th.
What Polymarket thinks
Here is the October 30 ladder from our 06:23 UTC (09:23 MSK) refresh, using Polymarket midpoints:
- Above $76,000: about 97.7%
- Above $78,000: about 89.8%
- Above $80,000: about 51%
- Above $82,000: about 11.5%
- Above $84,000: about 2.3%
The headline question we track is "Will the price of Bitcoin be above $80,000 on October 30?" Event volume was about $193,000 with roughly $127,000 in the prior 24 hours, so these books are active but still thinner than the big Fed board. A few large tickets can still move the $80k and $82k lines more than they move the deep in-the-money $76k bracket.
Compare the shape with our Bitcoin October 29 odds piece, when the $80,000 line was near 71% before the Fed spoke. The center of gravity slipped after the hold-and-dissent mix, and this contract now looks more like a range fight than a momentum handoff. Pair that with Bitcoin October 28 odds if you want the pre-Fed baseline, and with fed october hold for the policy tape that still hangs over crypto.
Why the Fed still echoes into Thursday
A hold does not end macro risk for a 24-hour BTC contract. Polymarket's separate December board priced a +25 bps hike near 77.5% at the same snapshot. Traders can keep BTC pinned near $80,000 while they reprice year-end policy, especially if ETF flows cool after the $176 million Tuesday print CoinDesk cited.
Also remember the resolution clock. The market does not care about Coinbase's last trade or an index average. It cares about Binance BTC/USDT at noon Eastern on October 30. A wick under $80,000 on that single minute loses a Yes ticket even if CoinGecko's day average looks fine. That venue rule is why we always print the ET/UTC/MSK conversion next to the strike.
Liquidity in the middle of the ladder is where most of the gambling happens. The $80k line is the story; the $82k line at about 11.5% Yes is the upside lottery ticket; the $78k line near 89.8% is the "do not get farmed by a fake crash" floor. Reading all three together beats staring at one percentage.
Daily BTC ladders are calendars with a price attached. Miss the venue and you miss the bet.
What to do as a reader
Read the rules before you touch bitcoin october 30 markets. Confirm Binance BTC/USDT, 12:00 ET, and the exact strike on the live Polymarket event. Keep Binance's chart open beside the book, not just a phone widget that composites venues.
Refresh Yes percentages at publish time; 51% is our 06:23 UTC midpoint and can move. Watch Thursday ETF flow prints and any Warsh follow-up quotes. Size small if you trade at all. Nothing here is investment advice, and prediction markets can lose you your whole stake.
