Bitcoin October 28 odds: $80K Is a Pure Coin Flip

Bitcoin October 28 odds put the $80,000 line at an exact coin flip on Polymarket, with BTC just under it and the Fed decision landing after resolution.

Bitcoin October 28 odds are a coin flip right at $80,000, and the Fed is waiting just behind the finish line. Polymarket's "Bitcoin above ___ on October 28?" event had the $80,000 line at exactly 50% Yes at 06:15 UTC (09:15 MSK) on Tuesday, October 27. CoinGecko had BTC near $79,847 at the same time, down about 0.2% on the day, after it slipped under $80,000 on Monday.

What actually happened

Bitcoin lost the $80,000 handle on Monday. CoinDesk reported traders de-risking ahead of the Fed meeting, with ether and XRP leading losses among majors as the AI trade took another hit in Asia. Decrypt framed the dip around the Fed decision and the US midterms.

ETF flows added pressure. Reports tracking US spot bitcoin ETFs counted about $773.5 million in outflows over October 22 and 23. That is not a crash, but it removes one steady source of demand right when traders want a reason to buy.

By Tuesday morning, BTC was hovering just under the line. Decrypt reported a low near $79,330 on Monday before a bounce back above $80,000, and then the price slipped again overnight. That kind of back-and-forth around a round number is exactly what daily price markets feed on. That is why the $80,000 bracket sits so close to 50%. The market is saying "no idea" in the most honest way possible.

What Polymarket thinks

Here is the October 28 ladder from our 06:15 UTC (09:15 MSK) snapshot, using midpoints:

  • Above $76,000: about 98%
  • Above $78,000: about 87.5%
  • Above $80,000: 50%
  • Above $82,000: about 11%
  • Above $84,000: about 2%

The headline question we track is "Will the price of Bitcoin be above $80,000 on October 28?" at 50% Yes. Total event volume was about $185,000, so this is a thin market where a few large orders can move a bracket.

The shape tells you something. Traders see a likely range of roughly $78,000 to $82,000 by noon ET Wednesday. A move outside that band in about 34 hours would surprise the crowd.

Compare that with our Bitcoin October 26 odds piece. The center of the ladder has drifted lower as BTC lost $80,000, but the spread has stayed tight. This is a market pricing chop, not a breakout. Traders are not betting on a big move either way before the noon ET print.

The Fed timing trap

The Fed decision lands on October 28 too, but after this market resolves. The FOMC statement usually comes at 2 p.m. ET, which is 18:00 UTC (21:00 MSK), two hours after the noon ET candle. So the decision itself cannot settle this bet. Only positioning before it can.

Polymarket's "Fed Decision in October?" market had no change near 93.7% and a 25 bps hike near 6.5%. We covered the setup in Fed October hold and Polymarket October Fed odds. With a hold priced in, the bigger risk is a surprise in tone, and that hits after the Bitcoin October 28 odds are already settled.

When a market sits at 50%, the edge is not your opinion on bitcoin. It is reading the resolution rule better than the next guy.

What to do as a reader

Read the rules before you touch Bitcoin October 28 odds. Resolution uses Binance BTC/USDT only, not Coinbase or an index, and only the 12:00 ET candle close. Check the live Polymarket event and Binance's chart side by side.

If you trade near the line, size small. A coin-flip bracket can swing 20 points on a single hourly candle. Hedging with the $78,000 or $82,000 lines is one way to express a range view, but it still costs fees and spread.

Do not anchor on the Fed. The decision lands after resolution. Also watch the ETF flow reports for October 26 and 27 when they come out, since another big outflow day could tip the line before noon ET. Nothing here is investment advice, and prediction markets can lose you your whole stake.
