Claude outage odds: Polymarket Bets on 5-7 Down Days
Claude outage odds on Polymarket favor 5-7 down days in October at about 77%, and the answer hinges on one color box on Anthropic's uptime page.

- A day counts if the finalized claude.ai status box on status.claude.com/uptime is any color other than green.
- Incidents for the API, Console, Claude Code or other components do not count unless claude.ai itself is marked down that day.
- With about four and a half days left in October, the 5-7 bracket is the clear favorite, while 8-10 sits near 21.5%.

Claude outage odds are the rare market where you can almost count the answer on a status page. Polymarket's "Will Claude go down on __ days in October?" event had the 5-7 day bracket at about 77% Yes at 06:03 UTC (09:03 MSK) on Tuesday, October 27, with total event volume around $50,500. The rules point to one specific thing: the claude.ai color box on Anthropic's uptime page.
What actually happened
Anthropic's public incident feed listed several October events that named claude.ai among affected components. By UTC date, that list includes outages or elevated errors on October 5, 6, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25. That is seven distinct calendar days. When we pulled the incident feed again on Tuesday morning UTC, nothing new naming claude.ai had been posted since October 25, so October 26 looks clean so far.
Two caveats. First, the market does not resolve on the incident feed. It resolves on the uptime page's daily boxes once they are finalized. A short blip that never turns the box yellow or red would not count. Second, some days had more than one incident, but a day still counts once.
That quiet stretch matters. Each clean day shrinks the window for the extra hits that would push the count into 8-10. Still, the late-October cluster shows how quickly a calm week can turn.
The late-October cluster is what moved the market. From October 21 through 25, the incident feed shows claude.ai listed almost every day, including a critical window on October 23 and two separate hits on both October 24 and 25. Early October was quieter: October 5 and 6 are the main claude.ai days before the mid-month lull, while October 7's Console and spend-limit issues would not count under these rules.
What Polymarket thinks
Our API snapshot at 06:03 UTC (09:03 MSK) on October 27 showed these Yes midpoints:
- Fewer than 5 days: about 0.3%
- 5-7 days: about 77%
- 8-10 days: about 21.5%
- 11-13 days: about 0.3%
- 14 or more: about 0.3%
The headline question we track is "Will Claude go down 5-7 times in October?" at roughly 77% Yes. Volume is thin compared with election markets, so a few thousand dollars can move a bracket.
The math behind the favorite is simple. If the uptime page already shows something like seven bad days, traders need roughly zero to three more claude.ai hits in the remaining days to stay in 5-7, or four or more to push into 8-10. That is why 5-7 dominates and 8-10 is the only real alternative.
Status-page markets are less about vibes and more about whether a colored square turns yellow.
What "finalized" means
Polymarket's rules say a day is finalized once the next day's status box shows a color other than the grey used for days that have not begun. In practice, you cannot bank a day's color until the following day has started showing a real status. That lag matters near month-end.
We have covered Claude's model releases in pieces like Claude Opus 5.5 and Claude Fable 5.5. The Claude outage odds market is the reliability side of the same product: how often the consumer chat surface actually stays up.
What to do as a reader
If you trade Claude outage odds, open the uptime page and the Polymarket event side by side. Count green versus non-green boxes for claude.ai only. Ignore API-only incidents.
Do not trust our seven-day tally as the official score. It is an inference from the incident feed, and the resolution source is the uptime boxes. Recheck those boxes yourself before any bet, and screenshot the page if you care about disputes.
Watch the grey boxes. Until a day is finalized, its color can still change, which is how people get burned near the end of the month.
Keep size small. Thin volume and a rule that hinges on a color square are a bad mix for large positions. Nothing in this piece is investment advice.
