Capricorn APR rally: Token Doubles Two Days After Unlock
tl;dr
  • Capricorn, the Monad DeFi project formerly called aPriori, hit its one-year cliff unlock on October 23.
  • The documented cliff alone was 92.8 million APR, about a third of the circulating supply before the unlock, per Bitrue and CryptoTicker.
  • We found no official announcement or clear catalyst behind the jump, so treat the move as pure market flow for now.

The Capricorn APR rally is the weird chart of the weekend. Two days after a big token unlock that was supposed to flood the market with supply, APR roughly doubled. At our CoinGecko check at 06:04 UTC on October 25, the token traded near $0.054, up about 108% in 24 hours, with volume near $18 million against a market cap of about $22 million.

What actually happened

APR started trading on October 23, 2025, and the project's vesting plan put the first big release exactly one year later. According to Bitrue's breakdown of the documentation, the Early Backers pool released 33% of its 160 million tokens, or 52.8 million APR, and the Core Contributors pool released 25% of its 160 million, or 40 million APR.

That 92.8 million equaled about 33.4% of the 277.8 million APR circulating before the date. October 23 was also a quarterly vesting date for the Foundation, Community Incentives and Ecosystem Growth pools, adding roughly 30.9 million more. Combined, that is about 123.7 million APR, or 44.5% of the old float.

CoinGecko now lists circulating supply near 402 million APR, which lines up with that combined figure. In other words, the supply really did grow. The price went up anyway.

The repurchase twist

There is one wrinkle in the math. On August 12, Capricorn said on X that it bought back 5.3% of total supply, about 53 million APR, from early investors and would redirect it to community incentives and ecosystem growth, according to Bitrue. Those tokens were not burned, and total supply stayed at one billion.

The project has not published new vesting terms for the repurchased tokens, so trackers disagree on how much investor supply actually unlocked. Bitrue lays out scenarios from about 71 million to about 147 million APR depending on assumptions.

Unlocked does not mean sold. When holders sit tight and bearish traders crowd in ahead of the date, an unlock can turn into a squeeze instead of a dump.

That is one possible read, not a confirmed one. We have no data showing who bought, and no statement from Capricorn explaining the rally.

What Capricorn actually does

Capricorn describes itself as an order-flow coordination layer for fast blockchains, built on Monad. Its pitch is an engine that classifies trades in real time, routes harmless orders into efficient pools and isolates riskier flow, with MEV capture shared back to stakers and validators. It also runs liquid staking through aprMON, which is a separate token from APR.

The project rebranded from aPriori to Capricorn on July 29, 2026, per Bitrue. Even after this week's jump, CoinGecko shows APR about 93% below its all-time high of roughly $0.74, set on its first trading day in October 2025.

How to read the Capricorn APR rally

Small caps after unlocks are fragile in both directions. A $22 million market cap with $18 million of daily volume means the token turned over almost its whole value in a day. That kind of churn often fades as fast as it arrives.

We have covered how unlock weeks usually play out. Our PENGU October unlock piece and ENA October unlock story show that price action around a cliff depends far more on positioning than on the headline number. The Capricorn APR rally fits that pattern so far, just in the less common direction.

What to do as a reader

Check the token yourself before trusting any chart screenshot. CoinGecko's Capricorn page shows supply and volume, and the official Capricorn site is where any real explanation should appear first.

Watch the next unlock dates. CryptoTicker notes quarterly tranches continue, with the next one on January 23, 2027. Early backers who just unlocked can also sell into strength at any time.

Do not chase a doubling with no catalyst. If you trade it, size small, use limit orders and assume a sharp pullback is possible. Nothing here is investment advice, and no one can promise this move continues.
