El Gato memecoin: Solana Cat Prints 500% Day, Then Cools
El Gato memecoin ranked No. 2 on Solana by volume with a 502% day per PANews; at ~06:01 UTC Oct 18 DexScreener showed +539% 24h but −43% over 6h.
Early story. Some claims here are not officially confirmed yet. We update this post as it confirms.

- PANews (Oct 18): Solana top-10 memes did about $71.6M of 24h volume; ZEC led with ~$24.7M, Gato came second, and Gato's 24h gain was printed at 502.0%.
- DexScreener (~06:01 UTC Oct 18, main PumpSwap pair): price ~$0.000482, market cap ~$468K, 24h volume ~$5.67M, +539% 24h but about −43% over 6h and −22% over 1h.
- The same ticker already has copycats, including a Robinhood Chain "Gato" pool worth only a few thousand dollars, so the contract address matters more than the name.

The El Gato memecoin is Sunday's loudest cat on Solana: PANews' Meme Daily for October 18 lists Gato as the No. 2 Solana name by 24-hour volume with a 502% daily gain, and our DexScreener pull at ~06:01 UTC still showed the main PumpSwap pool up about 539% on the day. The catch is in the shorter windows, where the chart has already been bleeding for hours.
What actually happened
Gato is a Pump.fun-born cat coin. The contract ends in ...pump (55A3VxMBfzw6uSe64zms5iMPw9k6kx9WzzusbCU6pump), the project links an X account (@gato_pf) and a site at mygato.xyz, and its main PumpSwap pool on DexScreener was created late on October 16 UTC. Within roughly a day the token went from unknown to a top-two volume slot on Solana's daily meme board.
The PANews snapshot is the cleanest public card for the move. It says Solana's top 10 memes produced about $71.575 million of 24-hour volume, ZEC led that list with about $24.656 million, and Gato and "simulator" followed. Gato's 24-hour gain was listed at 502.0%. That is a strong print for a cat ticker with no exchange listing and no known backer.
Our own DexScreener freeze tells the second half of the story. At ~06:01 UTC on October 18 the main pool showed roughly $5.67 million of 24-hour volume against a market cap near $468K and liquidity around $69K. Turnover of more than ten times the market cap is classic degen rotation: lots of hands, not a lot of holding.
Reading the El Gato memecoin chart
The 24-hour column says moon. The 6-hour column says about −43%, and the 1-hour column says about −22%. When those numbers disagree, the shorter windows are usually closer to what you would actually get filled at right now. The peak already happened; the current tape is the cooldown.
Transaction counts were busy on both sides: about 50,052 buys versus 43,097 sells over 24 hours in the main pool. More buys than sells by count while price slides is a familiar pattern, with many small buyers absorbing fewer, larger exits. It does not prove anything about who is selling, but it is worth noticing.
There is also more than one Gato pool. DexScreener lists additional Meteora pools for the same Solana mint, plus a separate Robinhood Chain token also called "El Gato" whose market cap was only a few thousand dollars and down more than 50% on the day at our pull. Same name, different contract, different risk. Copy the mint from a source you trust, not from a reply guy.
A 500% day and a −43% six hours can be the same token on the same Sunday. Screenshot both or neither.
For context on how fast this kind of move fades, see our notes on Dacity Coin after the GTA 6 trailer and the LOOM Solana memecoin pump. Both followed a similar spike-then-fade shape within days.
Who is behind it
Honestly, nobody important that we could verify. There is no exchange announcement, no named team, and no audit link in the sources we used. The project's public footprint is a Pump.fun origin, an X handle, and a website. That is normal for a cat coin, and it is exactly why position sizing matters more than conviction here.
The broader Solana meme tape is also cooler than a week ago. PANews' October 17 edition had the Solana top 10 at about $93.7 million of volume, versus about $71.6 million in the October 18 edition. Gato is winning a smaller pie.
What to do as a reader
If you are tracking the El Gato memecoin, label every number with its time and source: PANews' 502% daily print and our ~06:01 UTC DexScreener freeze (+539% 24h, −43% 6h) are different photographs, and averaging them produces a number that never existed. Verify the mint ends in CU6pump before touching anything.
Watch liquidity first, price second. With roughly $69K in the main pool, a single mid-size wallet can move the chart hard in either direction. If liquidity drops while volume stays high, that is usually exits, not adoption. Nothing here is investment advice; treat any cat coin as a lottery ticket you can afford to lose entirely.
