base tokenized stocks are doing real DEX work on Coinbase's L2: Base posted $500 million in weekly trading volume in an October 8 announcement, with on-chain equities as a major driver. Separately, Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks on Base printed about $1.5 billion in DEX volume over a recent 30-day window, up 313% versus the prior 30 days. Those are labeled prints from different methods, not one blended number.

What actually happened

CryptoBriefing's Base volume report says Base, Coinbase's Ethereum layer 2, posted a half-billion-dollar week in an October 8 announcement. How that $500 million breaks across stablecoins, native crypto and equities is not broken out. Tokenized stocks are described as a major driver, not the whole tape.

A second CryptoBriefing print, dated around October 1, says Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks on Base generated $1.5 billion in DEX volume over the past 30 days, up 313% versus the prior 30-day period. Tickers cited in that coverage include NVDAc, AAPLc and GOOGLc. Do not average that $1.5 billion with other 30-day ranges that run from about $730.9 million to about $1.3 billion depending on methodology. Pick one labeled source per sentence. Jesse Pollak's "zero to $100 million in 26 days" line is about daily tokenized-stock DEX volume after the August 24 launch, per CryptoBriefing's October 8 piece. That is a different clock from the later weekly Base-wide $500 million print. Keep those timelines separate when you retell the story.

How the equity tape is structured

Coinbase launched Base-native tokenized stocks on August 24, 2026. Base founder Jesse Pollak pointed to daily tokenized-stock DEX volume going from zero to a $100 million single-day record in 26 days after launch, per the October 8 coverage. Tokens track well-known equities and are backed by real shares held in custody through Alpaca. Access is limited to eligible investors outside the United States, so US retail is not the customer set.

Aerodrome, Base's dominant native exchange, captured about 76% of tokenized-stock trading volume. Uniswap v4 took about 19%. That concentration matters if you are watching where liquidity actually sits when you compare venues.

Half a billion weekly on Base is not the same claim as half a billion in equities alone. Read the label.

Why base tokenized stocks matter for hype watchers

base tokenized stocks sit at the intersection of RWA narrative and L2 fee flow. Base's DeFi TVL hit an all-time high of about $6.2 billion in late September 2026, per the same CryptoBriefing write-up, which is broader context, not a tokenized-stock-only figure. Traders watching for a Base token narrative sometimes treat equity volume as a demand signal; that is interpretation, not a Coinbase promise.

The useful checklist is narrower: whether weekly volume holds near $500 million, whether asset-level breakdowns get clearer, and whether Aerodrome keeps the majority of the equity tape. Official framing also lives on the Base blog tokenized stocks page.

Regulatory perimeter matters as much as volume. Eligible non-US access, Alpaca custody and DEX venue concentration are the boring details that decide whether a half-billion weekly headline is tradable for you. US readers in particular should treat social screenshots of AAPLc or NVDAc pools as content, not as an invitation that applies to them.

Liquidity quality also differs from blue-chip crypto pairs. Thin moments around equity open, weekend crypto flow and Aerodrome gauge seasons can all change slippage even when the weekly total looks healthy. Quote the pool and the time, not just the headline number.

What to do as a reader

If you trade or research base tokenized stocks, confirm eligibility first. These products were approved for eligible non-US investors, not for US retail. Check custody language, redemption paths and which DEX pool you are actually hitting before you size anything.

Treat every volume headline as method-specific. Cite the $500 million weekly Base print and the $1.5 billion / 313% Coinbase-issued 30-day print separately.
