Early story. Some claims here are not officially confirmed yet. We update this post as it confirms.

WHUF unlock: Ethos Tokens Go Transferable Oct 8, No Listing Yet
tl;dr
  • The WHUF sale cleared at $4.20 per token on Sonar, with tokens distributed at TGE on September 8 and locked until October 8, per the Ethos Help Center.
  • Bitrue says the lock lifts at 15:00 UTC on October 8 and that no official exchange venue, pair or start time had been announced as of October 5.
  • Buyers who vouched their tokens keep an 85% price guarantee: they can redeem for 85% of what they paid, in USDC, until October 8, 2027.

The WHUF unlock hits on Thursday. Ethos Network's WHUF tokens, sold at auction in September for $4.20 each, become transferable on October 8 at 15:00 UTC, when the 30-day sale lock ends. What it does not mean: a confirmed exchange listing.

What actually happened

Ethos ran the WHUF sale on Sonar from September 1 to September 4. It was a uniform-price auction: everyone who cleared paid the same $4.20, regardless of their max bid. Bids below $4.20 were refunded in full on September 6, per the official Ethos Help Center.

At TGE on September 8, tokens went to each bidder's wallet, along with XP, Validator NFT and referral bonuses. But sale tokens were locked for 30 days. That lock ends on October 8.

Bitrue's October 5 explainer fills in the math. The auction sold 2 million WHUF, which is 20% of a fixed 10 million supply. At $4.20 that implies an FDV of about $42 million. Bitrue also cites reports of roughly $8.4 million raised from 1,560 buyers.

How the WHUF unlock actually works

According to Bitrue, citing CoinGabbar, the unlock time is hardcoded in the token contract, not flipped by a manual switch. The new setup reportedly locks a fixed list of about 1,400 sale and bonus wallets until the deadline. Other wallets are not affected, which lets market makers receive inventory before any trading debut.

For US readers, 15:00 UTC on October 8 is 11:00 a.m. Eastern. In Europe it is 17:00 in Berlin and 18:00 in Moscow. Set an alarm if you plan to act, because doing anything in the first minutes of an unlock is how people sign the wrong transaction.

So on Thursday, coins can move between wallets. That is it. Transferability is not liquidity. If no exchange or pool is live, there is no price to sell into.

Bitrue also says vouching rewards that have been building up should become claimable once the token is transferable on October 8. Keep an eye on the official app for the exact flow.

A WHUF unlock without a venue is like a door that opens onto an empty parking lot.

The 85% guarantee fine print

This is the part that makes WHUF different from a normal TGE. Eligible buyers who vouched their WHUF in an Ethos account, and kept it vouched, can redeem for 85% of their purchase price in USDC. At $4.20, that is about $3.57 per token by Bitrue's math. A 90% tier existed, but only if the sale cleared at $7.50 or more. It did not.

Rules matter here. Unvouching for any reason forfeits the guarantee permanently. Redemption goes through the Ethos Foundation and requires KYC/AML. And the guarantee is a redemption right, not a market floor: WHUF can still trade below $3.57 on the open market.

Bitrue also notes that October 8 ends the eligibility period for vouching. If you bought and never vouched, check the exact cut-off in the Ethos app today, not on Thursday afternoon.

What to do as a reader

If you hold sale WHUF, decide your plan before the WHUF unlock. Keep it vouched if you want the 85% safety net. Read the redemption terms and the 12-month window. Do not unvouch just to move tokens on day one unless you are fine losing that protection forever.

If you are watching from the sidelines, wait for an official listing post from Ethos or an exchange that names a venue, a pair and a start time. A CoinGecko page is not a listing. "Listing soon" tweets are not a listing either.

Unlock dates are also scam season. Expect fake "claim WHUF" pages and DMs offering early access. Real claims never ask for a seed phrase. For more unlock-day survival tips, see our ENA October unlock and Fables TGE breakdowns.

One more homework item: Bitrue says reports on Ethos's tokenomics describe a sizeable team allocation. Read the vesting schedule yourself before assuming the float stays small.

Auction prices and market prices can be very different animals. The WHUF unlock is a supply event, and the first trades, whenever they happen, may be wild. Not investment advice. Stay vouched or stay away, ser.

Not financial advice. DYOR, ser.
