Sonic airdrop burn: Claim Your S Before October 15 or Lose It
The Sonic airdrop burn hits on October 15, 2026: unclaimed Season 1 and Season 2 S tokens get burned for good. The official tracker sets the cutoff at 00:00 UTC.

- Sonic Labs said in April that about 32.69 million S from Season 1 and Season 2 were still unclaimed and would be burned on October 15.
- The official burn tracker lists the deadline as October 15, 2026 at 00:00 UTC, which is 03:00 Moscow time on October 15 and 8 p.m. US Eastern on October 14.
- Cryptonews.net, writing on October 5, valued the pile at about €1.19 million at around 4 cents per S, roughly 0.9% of circulating supply.

The Sonic airdrop burn is less than nine days out. Sonic Labs has set October 15, 2026, as the final deadline for unclaimed S airdrop tokens, and anything still locked after that gets burned for good. If you farmed Sonic Points or Gems and never finished claiming, this is your reminder.
What actually happened
The plan is not new. Sonic Labs announced it in an April 2 blog post, saying all unclaimed airdrop allocations would be burned on October 15, 2026. What is new is the timing: we are now inside the final stretch, and the reminder posts are flying.
Some background. Sonic's airdrop vested over time, with penalties for claiming early. According to that blog, Season 1 allocations became fully penalty-free on April 18, and Season 2 allocations on May 24. So by now, anyone who still has tokens sitting in the portal can claim without a haircut.
The blog also says no additional S will be minted for the airdrop, and that the program used fNFTs that could be traded on PaintSwap's orderbook.
How the Sonic airdrop burn works
The official burn tracker explains the mechanics. After the deadline, a permissionless function called burnLocked() can be triggered by anyone, which destroys the locked tokens. Before that, holders still need to call unlockAndBurnAirdrop() through the portal to claim what is theirs.
The tracker also shows earlier manual burns totaling 17,894,186.013 S, made up of two burns on January 18, 2026, of about 14.48 million and 1.55 million S, plus one on July 21, 2025, of about 1.87 million S. Those already happened. The 32.69 million figure is separate and comes from the April post. It is an April number, and some of those tokens may have been claimed since, so the final burn could be smaller. We could not load a live balance for the airdrop contract, so we are not printing one. The tracker itself says the contract balance will decrease as the deadline approaches, which fits people claiming late.
The key line on that page is blunt: fNFT holders who do not claim before the deadline lose the ability to claim. There is no grace period mentioned anywhere we looked.
One timing wrinkle: Sonic's blog gives the date but no time of day. The tracker says 00:00 UTC. Cryptonews.net also notes the project did not give a time in its original post. Do not plan around the last few hours.
Free tokens you never claim are just someone else's deflation.
Who should care
If you were active on Sonic during Season 1 or Season 2, check. Farmers who moved on, lost interest or forgot about vesting are exactly the people who leave tokens on the table.
Cryptonews.net also points out a practical snag. Claiming costs gas, so you need a little S in the wallet to pay for the transaction. If your wallet is empty, fund it first, then claim.
For the market, the effect is modest. Using cryptonews.net's numbers, the burn is under 1% of circulating supply, against a market cap it puts around $158 million. That is a tidy cleanup, not a supply shock.
We have seen similar deadline crunches before. Our Genius airdrop refund and Drift DFX claims pieces show how often people miss claim windows, and the Blast shutdown story is a reminder that unclaimed rewards do not wait forever.
What to do as a reader
Go to the official portal at my.soniclabs.com/airdrop, connect the wallet you farmed with, and see if anything is left. Do it this week, not on October 14.
Watch out for scams. Cryptonews.net warns about fake claim pages, and deadlines are prime time for phishing. Type the address yourself, never click a "claim now" DM, and never share a seed phrase.
If you hold fNFTs, check whether they still represent claimable value and read the portal before selling or moving them.
If you just hold S, the Sonic airdrop burn is a small supply reduction, not a reason on its own to buy or sell. Not investment advice. Claim what is yours, ser, and let the burn take the rest.
Not financial advice. DYOR, ser.
