Robinhood stock memes: BONER Nears ATH After a $440M-a-Day Peak
tl;dr
  • Bloomberg, citing Dune data compiled by X user @adam_tehc, says daily volume in memecoin-stock-token pairs peaked near $440 million in early September before falling fast.
  • Decrypt reported that over the August 30 weekend, the BONER pool ended up holding about 53% of all tokenized HIMS shares, briefly pushing the wrapped price far above the real stock.
  • Lookonchain says BONER's market cap briefly topped $70 million near its high and was about $66.4 million, up 17.8% in 24 hours, citing GMGN data.

Robinhood stock memes are the weirdest corner of crypto right now, and the numbers are getting big. Bloomberg reports that daily trading in memecoins paired against tokenized stocks on Robinhood Chain peaked around $440 million in early September, and the most famous of them, BONER, just pushed back toward its all-time high after that story ran.

What actually happened

Robinhood Chain went live on mainnet on July 1, 2026, according to CryptoBriefing. Robinhood issues Stock Tokens there, on-chain versions of U.S. stocks. Degens did what degens do: they launched memecoins and paired them directly against those stock tokens instead of against ETH or a stablecoin.

The result is a meme that is literally backed by a pile of stock in its liquidity pool. Decrypt and CryptoBriefing report that on September 2, meme-to-stock pairs did about $217 million in volume, and CryptoBriefing compares that with about $127 million of direct stock-token trading that day. Bloomberg's peak daily figure of around $440 million comes from a different dataset, so treat the two as separate measurements.

Examples named in the coverage include BONER paired with HIMS, Artificial Inu (AI) paired with NVDA, and MEME paired with AMC. Each meme's pool soaks up some of that stock's tokenized supply.

When the meme owns half the float, the meme is the market.

The BONER and HIMS saga

Decrypt's September 4 report is the wild one. After about ten days of buying, by the weekend of August 30 the BONER pool held 31,198 of the 58,714 tokenized HIMS shares in existence, roughly 53%. With the NYSE closed and that little supply left, the wrapped HIMS token briefly hit $132.64 on-chain while the real stock had closed Friday at $28.84. Decrypt notes the price reset once markets reopened and new tokens were minted.

Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev's response, quoted by Decrypt, was basically "What's the concern?" AMC CEO Adam Aron was not amused and criticized the use of his company's stock in memes. That split, the platform shrugging while issuers fume, is the core tension of this whole trend.

Why it is back in the news

On October 5, Lookonchain posted that BONER's market cap had briefly passed $70 million near its all-time high and stood around $66.4 million, up 17.8% over 24 hours, based on GMGN data. TokenPost reported the same move and noted that BONER's top holder spoke to Bloomberg. In that Bloomberg piece, longtime crypto investor Eric Conner says: "We tokenize stocks, and the first thing people do with it is meme it." He told Bloomberg he bought a HIMS-paired memecoin at a market value of about $600,000 and watched it climb to about $80 million within roughly a week, his own account of an earlier peak.

According to Lookonchain's feed post, part of the trading fees on these stock memes usually flow to a community treasury that buys more stock tokens. That creates a loop: more meme volume, more fees, more stock tokens locked in the pool. It works great on the way up. Loops like that cut both ways.

Robinhood stock memes also show how tokenized stocks are leaking into crypto culture faster than regulators can react. Compare this with the permissioned, heavily rule-bound approach in our coverage of Binance bStocks pairs. For more on Robinhood's on-chain push, see Robinhood agents.

The risks nobody puts in the meme

Start with what you actually own. Bloomberg notes that under Robinhood's structure, Stock Tokens are backed 1:1 by shares held by a custodian, but they are not shares themselves and give no voting rights.

Next, liquidity is thin. Tokenized supply of a single stock on-chain can be small, which is exactly how one pool cornered half of it. Thin markets mean big price gaps from the real stock, in both directions.

Also, a memecoin paired with a stock still has memecoin risk on top. If the meme dumps, holders who sell receive stock tokens from the pool, and the price they get depends on how deep that pool is. And issuers like AMC clearly do not love this, and that could invite pressure on how stock tokens can be used.

Finally, trading data here comes from aggregators and analysts, not audited reports. We are citing Bloomberg via CryptoBriefing, Decrypt, Lookonchain and TokenPost, each for its own figures.

What to do as a reader

If you want to understand Robinhood stock memes, look at the pool before the chart. Check how much of the stock token sits in the pool, how deep the liquidity is and how far the on-chain price is from the real stock price.

Be careful with anything that looks like a premium to the real share price. That gap is not free money; it can close violently. And never assume a stock-paired meme is "safer" because there is stock in the pool. If you want a refresher on how meme rallies usually end, our Pump weekly rally recap is a good reminder.

Not investment advice. Robinhood stock memes are an experiment, and experiments can blow up. If you ape, size small, assume it can go to zero and don't let a 24-hour green candle do your thinking.

Not financial advice. DYOR, ser.
