The PONS Upbit listing went live on October 8, and it played out like a classic listing pump with a hangover. The Robinhood Chain launchpad token opened in Korean won, Bitcoin and Tether markets on Upbit at 14:00 KST, a day after Coinbase switched on PONS-USD. It spiked, then gave the move back and more within 24 hours.

What actually happened

CryptoCompass reports that Upbit posted its notice at 11:37 KST on October 8 and scheduled trading for 14:00 KST the same day. Deposits and withdrawals were supposed to open within about 90 minutes of the notice. Upbit warned that trading could be postponed if liquidity looked thin.

The listing went ahead. CoinMarketCal, via TradingView, logged PONS spot trading opening on Upbit across all three markets on October 8. That made Upbit the latest stop on a long exchange tour.

Coinbase came first. Crypto Briefing says PONS hit Coinbase's listing roadmap on October 6, and the PONS-USD pair went live on October 7 with limit, market and stop orders, subject to liquidity and regional limits.

The price action

Right before the listing, CryptoCompass cited CoinMarketCap data showing PONS near $0.4297, up about 4.8%, with a $292.01 million market cap and $102.22 million in 24-hour volume. Lookonchain's HTX-based snapshot put the price at $0.4212 and the market cap near $281.3 million. They're different moments, so we're not averaging them.

Then came the fade. On Kraken at 06:05 UTC on October 9, PONS last traded near $0.3652. Its 24-hour range ran from about $0.332 to $0.429. That's a textbook sell-the-news pattern after two top-tier listings in two days.

Crypto Briefing also noted that PONS reached Coinbase while trading at less than half its all-time high of about $0.97, set in September. So the Coinbase-plus-Upbit combo hasn't come close to reviving the old peak.

Two listings, one round trip.

Why the PONS Upbit listing matters

Upbit is the main gateway for Korean won traders, and Korean retail can move big volume into new listings. CryptoCompass pointed out that PONS was already listed on more than a dozen exchanges, including Binance Alpha, OKX, Bybit, Kraken and KuCoin. So Upbit added a new fiat on-ramp, not first-time access.

Robinhood Chain memes are still hot. TokenPost tracked about $317 million in 24-hour meme-market volume as of October 9. Robinhood Chain accounted for $98.52 million of that, or 31.1%, up 33% in a day, behind Solana's roughly $171 million.

How PONS makes money

Pons is a non-custodial launchpad on Robinhood Chain run by Pons Labs. CryptoCompass stresses that it isn't an official Robinhood product. Trading fees are usually 1%, split 70% to the token creator and 30% to the protocol.

About 80% of the protocol's share goes to buying PONS and burning it. That ties PONS's buy pressure to launchpad activity, not to any single coin. Holding a token launched on Pons gives you no exposure to PONS itself. CryptoCompass lists the contract as 0x39dBED3a2bd333467115dE45665cC57F813C4571.

What could happen next

CryptoCompass noted that daily volume was running at about a third of PONS's market cap before the listing. Turnover that high often brings sharp swings around big exchange events, and that's exactly what the chart showed.

The platform side matters too. Robinhood Chain is an Arbitrum Orbit layer 2 that opened its public mainnet on July 1, 2026, according to CryptoCompass. Pons V2 starts each token on a bonding curve and then moves it into a locked Uniswap V4 pool.

Locked liquidity blocks one kind of rug pull, but CryptoCompass warns that creator selling, contract flaws and sudden drops remain. Most tokens launched on the platform are short-lived, even when PONS itself rides the volume.

What to do as a reader

If you're trading around the PONS Upbit listing, remember that the big listing catalysts have now fired. Watch whether launchpad volume and burns hold up, because that's the real fundamental. Verify the contract address and only use Robinhood Chain for Upbit deposits.
