Dogecoin Labs: MyDoge, DogeOS and Such Merge Under One Roof
Dogecoin Labs launched on October 21 with the Dogecoin Foundation, uniting MyDoge, DogeOS and Such under CEO Jordan Jefferson as Bitwise's DOGE ETF pays out its last cash.

- The Block reports that MyDoge has more than 500,000 users and that DogeOS opened an EVM-compatible public testnet on September 30.
- Such, built with House of Doge and Brag House, focuses on invoicing and QR-code payments, per the same report.
- CoinDesk notes that DogeOS featured apps are still marked "coming soon" and that a key link back to Dogecoin is only a draft proposal.

Dogecoin Labs is the new umbrella for the teams trying to make DOGE useful for more than memes. Announced on October 21 with the Dogecoin Foundation, it pulls the MyDoge wallet, the DogeOS execution layer and the Such payments app under one roof, led by CEO Jordan Jefferson. The timing is pointed: the same week, the Bitwise Dogecoin ETF is paying out its last cash to holders.
What actually happened
The Block reported on October 21 that Dogecoin Labs launched with backing from the Dogecoin Foundation. It combines three things the community already knew. MyDoge is a wallet. DogeOS is a separate execution layer that runs Ethereum-style smart contracts and plans to settle back to Dogecoin. Such is a payments app for merchants and freelancers who want to bill in DOGE.
Jefferson pitched the merger as a focus play. "No other digital asset has Dogecoin's combination of liquidity, community and cultural reach," he told The Block. The bet is that one team with one roadmap ships faster than three teams with three Discords.
CoinDesk added the caveats. House of Doge, the Foundation's corporate arm, contributes brand and IP rather than code. DogeOS's featured apps are still listed as "coming soon". And the mechanism that would let Dogecoin's main chain verify DogeOS proofs is still at the proposal stage, which matters because without it DogeOS leans on its own security, not Dogecoin's. If you missed the testnet, our DogeOS public testnet explainer covers it.
Why Dogecoin Labs is launching now
Wall Street is giving mixed signals on DOGE. Bitwise shut its Dogecoin ETF, which we covered in our Bitwise Dogecoin ETF piece. According to the fund's 8-K filing, shares last traded on October 14, and holders get a cash distribution on October 22 based on net asset value as of October 21. The filing warns the payout will generally be a taxable event.
So the ETF route is closing while the builder route is consolidating. Dogecoin Labs is the community's answer to "what is DOGE for?" Their answer: payments, apps, and a wallet that half a million people already use.
A merger of teams is not a merger of users. Adoption is still the test.
What the market did
Not much, at least so far. CoinGecko showed DOGE at about $0.0798 at 05:59 UTC on October 22, down roughly 2% over 24 hours. Branding news rarely moves a top-ten coin, and this one had no token launch or airdrop attached. That is probably healthy. A rally on a press release would have faded anyway.
If you follow the charts, our Dogecoin golden cross piece covers the technical side. This story is about plumbing, not candles.
What is still unclear
Nobody has published a mainnet date for DogeOS. Funding for Dogecoin Labs, its headcount and how it splits work with the Foundation were not spelled out in either report we read. The "settle to Dogecoin" promise depends on that draft proposal getting accepted by Dogecoin Core developers, and Dogecoin's core changes historically move slowly.
There is also the merchant question. Payment apps live or die on whether shops actually take the coin. Such has a product. Whether it gets adoption is a 2027 question.
What to do as a reader
If you use MyDoge, nothing changes today. Keep your seed phrase offline and ignore anyone in DMs offering a new DOGE-brand token, because none has been announced. Fake airdrops follow every big brand move.
If you held the Bitwise ETF, check your broker for the October 22 cash payout and talk to a tax adviser about the sale. If you build, the DogeOS testnet is open, and Dogecoin Labs will want apps before mainnet.
If you trade DOGE, treat this as a slow, long-term story, and nothing here is investment advice. Much wow, little hurry. The new team still has to ship.
