Bitcoin October 24 odds: $82K Line Is a Coin Flip at 45%
tl;dr
  • The $82K line on Polymarket's October 24 ladder traded around 44-45 cents, so the market sees this as close to even, with a slight lean to No.
  • Bitcoin round-tripped toward $84,800 late Wednesday and then slid below $82,000 on Thursday as AI-spending doubts hit stocks.
  • The market resolves on the Binance BTC/USDT one-minute candle that closes at 12:00 ET on October 24, which is 16:00 UTC and 19:00 Moscow time.

Bitcoin October 24 odds on Polymarket are basically a coin flip at $82,000. As of 06:06 UTC Friday, traders priced BTC finishing above $82,000 at noon ET Saturday at about 45%, above $80,000 at about 89%, and above $84,000 at only about 5%, with spot BTC near $81,660.

What actually happened

Thursday was not kind to crypto. CoinDesk reported that bitcoin fell about 2.7% from midnight UTC to around $81,800, giving back a late-Wednesday pop to nearly $84,800. Mixed earnings from Tesla and Meta revived doubts about AI spending, Nasdaq 100 futures dropped, and Asian stock indexes sold off hard. Altcoins fell more than BTC, and DeFi tokens led the decline.

Not everything was bearish. The same CoinDesk report said spot bitcoin ETFs took in more than $1 billion over the first three days of the week, citing SoSoValue data. Implied volatility gauges sat near their 2026 lows, and the most traded options on Deribit over 24 hours were the $85,000 and $86,000 calls expiring October 30.

At our CoinGecko check at 05:58 UTC Friday, BTC was trading around $81,762, down about 1.1% over 24 hours, with a daily range of roughly $80,990 to $82,800.

What Polymarket thinks

Polymarket runs a daily ladder called "Bitcoin above ___ on October 24?" Each rung is its own yes/no market. Here is the snapshot we pulled from the Polymarket API at 06:06 UTC on October 23:

  • Above $78,000: about 98.7%
  • Above $80,000: about 88.6%
  • Above $82,000: about 44.5%
  • Above $84,000: about 5.5%
  • Above $86,000: under 1%

The headline question for this piece is "Will the price of Bitcoin be above $82,000 on October 24?", which sat at roughly 45% Yes, with bids around 44 cents and asks around 45. The whole event had traded about $152,000 by then.

So the Bitcoin October 24 odds say this: traders are fairly sure BTC holds $80K into Saturday noon ET, they think $82K is a genuine toss-up with a slight lean below, and they see a return to $84K as a long shot. That lines up with the price sitting just under $82K at snapshot time.

The weekly market "What price will Bitcoin hit October 19-25?" adds context, using our earlier 05:57 UTC pull. The $84,000 "reach" rung already resolved Yes thanks to Wednesday's spike. At snapshot time, a dip to $80,000 before Sunday was priced around 30%, and a run to $86,000 at about 5%.

Ladder logic: if $80K is about 89% and $82K is about 45%, the market puts roughly 44% on BTC landing between those two lines at noon ET Saturday.

How to read these numbers

A 45% Yes price means roughly 45 cents buys a share that pays $1 if BTC closes above $82,000 on that specific Binance candle. It is not a forecast from an analyst. It is the price where buyers and sellers currently meet, and it can move fast in a weekend market.

Small details matter. Resolution uses Binance BTC/USDT only, not an index or another exchange. One minute of noise at noon ET Saturday can decide it. Weekend liquidity is usually thinner, so a single large order can push spot price around the line.

What to do as a reader

First, if you watch these markets, check the live page on Polymarket rather than trusting any snapshot, including ours. The Bitcoin October 24 odds will move every time BTC ticks.

Second, know the clock. The deciding candle closes at 12:00 ET, which is 16:00 UTC and 19:00 in Moscow on Saturday. Anything that happens after that does not count.

Third, treat near-50% markets as what they are: uncertainty with a price tag. Prediction markets are not a savings account, and nothing here is investment advice. If you trade them, size small, read the rules, and accept that being wrong is part of the game. Wagmi only if you manage risk.
