Early story. Some claims here are not officially confirmed yet. We update this post as it confirms.

TRUMP team transfers: $249M of Memecoin Sent to Exchanges in 8 Months
tl;dr
  • Lookonchain, citing on-chain analyst data, says 81.87 million TRUMP went to exchanges like Binance and OKX over eight months at an average price of about $3.04.
  • The team-linked wallets still hold about 718 million TRUMP, roughly 71.8% of supply, according to the same post.
  • A transfer to an exchange is not proof of a sale, and TRUMP was trading around $2 in recent reports, far below its $73.43 peak.

TRUMP team transfers are back on the on-chain radar. Analysts tracking the official TRUMP memecoin say wallets linked to the team have sent about 81.87 million tokens, worth roughly $249 million at the time of each move, to centralized exchanges over the past eight months, while still sitting on most of their allocation.

What actually happened

The latest round of attention started with a Lookonchain post citing analyst data. It says team-linked wallets have moved 81.87 million TRUMP, about 8.2% of the total, to centralized exchanges, mainly Binance and OKX, over roughly eight months. At the time of transfer, those tokens were worth about $249 million, an average of about $3.04 each.

The team's original allocation was 800 million TRUMP, or 80% of the 1 billion supply. Lookonchain says about 718 million are still in team-linked wallets, worth around $1.49 billion at current prices. So most of the team supply has not moved.

CryptoBriefing reported on October 3 that about 8.4 million TRUMP, worth roughly $18 million, went to OKX in September. Coinpedia separately described a single 11.25 million TRUMP transfer, worth about $26 million, roughly two weeks earlier, of which 3.25 million (about $6.9 million) went to OKX. These are different snapshots of different moves; do not add them together or average them.

Tokens moving to an exchange is a signal, not a confession.

Why the TRUMP team transfers matter

The math is about supply. Coinpedia says the team has sent an average of more than 10.2 million TRUMP per month to exchanges. If even part of that gets sold, it is steady pressure on a market that already lost most of its value. CryptoBriefing notes TRUMP peaked at $73.43 and was trading near $2.

Coinpedia had the price down about 5.8% to around $2.06 in its report. Unlocks also continue: CryptoBriefing says the vesting schedule runs into late 2027. That means more tokens can become transferable for another two years.

We covered the unlock calendar in our TRUMP October unlock piece and the political-hype side in Trump gala dinner. The TRUMP team transfers are the on-chain follow-up to both stories.

What we do not know

Here's the honest part. CryptoBriefing's write-up describes the 8.2% as already "sold," but Coinpedia points out that sending tokens to an exchange does not prove they were sold. In general, tokens sitting on an exchange can also end up in market-making setups, over-the-counter deals or plain custody. Only the exchanges and the wallet owners know for sure what happened after each deposit.

Coinpedia also mentions that CIC Digital, a company linked to the project, is connected to the wallets in question. We have not seen an official statement from the TRUMP team explaining these specific transfers. Without that, analysts are reading wallet patterns, not a disclosure.

There is also a valuation quirk worth noticing. The $249 million figure uses prices at the time of each transfer, while the $1.49 billion figure for remaining holdings uses a current price. Because TRUMP has fallen over those eight months, the two numbers are not directly comparable, and neither one tells you how much cash the team actually raised.

How to read on-chain alerts

When a bot posts "team wallet sends X tokens to Binance," check three things. First, is the wallet actually labeled as team-linked by more than one tracker? Second, is the amount large compared with daily trading volume? Third, did similar transfers in the past come before price drops, or not?

For TRUMP team transfers specifically, the pattern has been regular rather than sudden. That makes them easier to anticipate, and markets may already price in some of the flow. If you want a comparison with another big unlock story, see our PUMP October unlock breakdown.

What to do as a reader

If you hold TRUMP, follow at least two independent on-chain trackers and compare their labels before reacting to a single post. Check the official vesting schedule so you know when the next tranches unlock. Put those dates in your calendar, because transfer alerts can cluster around unlock days.

Don't trade the headline. A transfer alert can hit social media minutes after it happens, and the price move, if any, often happens before most people see it. Chasing that is how you buy the top or sell the bottom.

Not investment advice. TRUMP is a memecoin with a huge insider allocation and continuing unlocks. Size accordingly, assume high volatility and keep your expectations grounded, ser. Wagmi is a meme, not a plan.
