SHIB on Solana: Shiba Inu Lands via Sunrise, Dog Stays on ETH
tl;dr
  • Solana's X account said SHIB is live on Solana via Sunrise and usable in apps like Jupiter, Raydium, Phantom and Kamino.
  • U.Today reports this is a canonical, issuer-approved Solana version of the ERC-20 token, and that SHIB is not leaving Ethereum or Shibarium.
  • The price reaction was muted, with SHIB around $0.0000057 in U.Today's report.

SHIB on Solana is now a thing, fren. On October 4, Solana's official account posted that Shiba Inu's token is live on the network through Sunrise, the Wormhole-powered gateway that has been porting big-name tokens over one by one. The dog didn't leave Ethereum, it just got a second home.

What actually happened

The announcement came from the official Solana account on X, which wrote that SHIB is live via Sunrise. CoinMarketCal's event page, mirrored on TradingView, logged the same post and listed the apps that support it from day one: Jupiter for swaps, Raydium for liquidity, Phantom for wallets and Kamino for lending-style DeFi.

U.Today explains the mechanics. Sunrise creates canonical Solana representations of tokens that live on other chains, with the issuer's approval. That matters because the crypto world has a long history of unofficial wrapped versions. Several versions of the same coin can exist on one chain, and only some of them are the "real" ones.

So the Sunrise version is meant to be the sanctioned version, not another random wrapper. It is still the same ERC-20 SHIB at its core. Nothing about the main token supply or Shibarium, Shiba Inu's own layer 2, is moving, according to U.Today.

Same dog, new park.

Who is Sunrise, and who else came over

Sunrise is powered by Wormhole Labs, according to U.Today, and launched in November 2025 with MON. Since then it has become a kind of on-ramp for blue-chip memes and majors that want Solana liquidity without abandoning their home chain.

U.Today notes that DOGE arrived on Solana through Sunrise and Wormhole's native token transfer framework in September, and PEPE followed on September 18. Now SHIB completes a very meme-heavy trio. If you remember our DogeOS public testnet piece, the dog coins are clearly trying to be everywhere at once.

One honest note: when we checked, the Sunrise docs listing page did not yet show SHIB. That page may simply lag behind the launch. It is another reason to double-check token details before you buy anything.

Why SHIB on Solana could matter

Solana is where a huge share of memecoin trading happens. We have tracked it through the September memecoin rally and the Pump weekly rally. A native-feeling SHIB on Solana lets that crowd trade, lend and LP the dog without bridging back to Ethereum or paying mainnet gas.

For SHIB holders, the upside is access to faster and cheaper venues. For Solana, it is another recognizable ticker that can pull in liquidity. Whether people actually use it is a different question. A canonical listing creates the pipe, but it does not guarantee water flows through it.

The muted price action tells you the market sees this as plumbing, not a catalyst. U.Today had SHIB near $0.0000057 with little reaction to the news. That is probably the correct take. Listings like this tend to matter slowly, through volume and integrations over weeks, not through one green candle on announcement day.

The contract address problem

Here is the part that can actually save you money. Because older bridged versions of Shiba Inu have existed on Solana in the past, searching "SHIB" on a DEX can return more than one token. Data aggregators sometimes list legacy wrapped versions alongside new ones, and the names can look nearly identical.

We are deliberately not printing a contract address in this article. The safest path is to get the mint address from Sunrise's own token page or from links shared by Solana's or Shiba Inu's official accounts, then compare it character by character in your wallet before swapping.

What to do as a reader

If you want to try SHIB on Solana, start from official links, verify the mint address, and use a small test transaction first. Check that the app you are using (Jupiter, Raydium, Phantom or Kamino) shows the canonical version rather than an older wrapper.

Remember you need a little SOL in your wallet to pay network fees, and that moving tokens between Ethereum and Solana goes through a bridge with its own steps and waiting times. Read the bridge instructions on the official site instead of a random thread.

Watch liquidity before size. A token being "live" does not mean the pools are deep yet. Thin pools mean slippage, and slippage on a meme with this many zeros adds up fast.

This is not investment advice. A cross-chain listing changes where a coin trades, not what it is. Treat it like any other meme: fun, volatile and never something to bet rent money on. Wagmi, but verify.

Not financial advice. DYOR, ser.
