Polymarket V2: New Contracts, pUSD Only, New Markets Move Nov 2
Polymarket V2 is running canary markets: a rebuilt protocol with one ERC-1155 positions contract and pUSD as sole collateral. New markets tentatively switch on November 2.

- Protocol V2 replaces the 2019 Gnosis-based Conditional Tokens Framework with a single ERC-1155 positions contract, pUSD as the only collateral, one exchange per market type and a router, per protocol lead Rajath Alex.
- Canary markets run through October 30. New markets tentatively move to V2 on November 2, The Block and Cointelegraph report.
- The code was audited by Cantina, Certora, Quantstamp, SigmaPrime, Zellic and Pashov, with formal verification by Certora and a bug bounty of up to $5 million.

Polymarket V2 is live in canary mode. The prediction market started running real production markets on a rebuilt smart-contract system on October 5, with a tentative switch for all new markets on November 2. Old positions stay where they are, but you may be asked to approve new contracts when you trade.
What actually happened
Rajath Alex, Polymarket's head of protocol, announced Protocol V2 in an X post on Monday, October 5. The Block reports that the platform has begun running production canary markets on the new system, which will replace the Conditional Tokens Framework for new markets.
The pitch is cleanup. Over the years, every new market type meant bolting on more contracts. V2 consolidates that into one positions contract, one collateral token, one exchange per market type and a router that sends orders where they need to go.
Polymarket is also shipping Data API V2, a Rust service built around its in-house onchain indexer, according to The Block.
What changes under the hood
V2 launches with four market types, The Block says: Binary, Atomic Neg-risk, Incremental Neg-risk and Combinatorial. Combinatorial is the spicy one for degens, since it points to markets that combine outcomes instead of treating every question in isolation.
Resolution gets a new piece too. An OracleAggregator can plug into UMA, Chainlink and other data sources to settle markets. Cointelegraph adds that V2 contracts are upgradeable through what Polymarket calls a "secure governance process," which reduces the need to redeploy contracts for every new feature.
Collateral is pUSD only. Cointelegraph says pUSD, introduced in an exchange upgrade in April 2026, is backed 1:1 by Circle's USDC and issued on Polygon. You can read how it works in the official pUSD docs.
One positions contract, one collateral, one router. Less spaghetti, fewer places for bugs to hide.
The multichain hint
The upgraded protocol includes provisions for moving positions, collateral and resolutions across chains. Polymarket says it will turn that on when it expands beyond its current network. Cointelegraph notes the company has not said when or which chains, and it reached out for details.
Context matters here. The Block says Polymarket is in talks to raise $1 billion at a $21 billion post-money valuation, with 1789 Capital set to put in about $300 million, citing Bloomberg. A cleaner, chain-flexible protocol is the kind of infrastructure that story needs.
The team is also bulking up. Alex joined in May, and the company later hired Bird founder and former Uber and Lyft executive Travis VanderZanden as chief growth officer, per The Block. New protocol lead, new growth chief, new contracts: the direction of travel is obvious.
Does this mean a token or airdrop?
No. Nothing in the Polymarket V2 announcement mentions a token, points or an airdrop. Anyone telling you that approving V2 contracts qualifies you for a drop is making it up, and a fake "migration" page is a classic phishing setup.
What to do as a reader
If you trade on the website or app, you do not need to migrate anything. Cointelegraph, citing the migration guide, says existing positions will not be converted to V2, and users may simply be asked to approve new contracts. Only approve prompts that appear inside the real polymarket.com interface.
If you run bots or integrations, read the migration guide now. Polymarket V2 means your code will need to handle both legacy CTF positions and the new contracts during the transition, and the November 2 date is tentative, so build in slack.
If you care about market quality, watch how Combinatorial markets roll out. They could make prices more consistent across related questions. Polymarket V2 is plumbing, not a pump. But good plumbing is what keeps a platform reportedly raising at a $21 billion valuation from flooding. Not financial advice. Approve carefully, ser.
