PancakeSwap Flip vote: 98% Against as Saturday Close Nears

The PancakeSwap Flip vote ends Saturday 08:07 UTC: LPs would get 88% of v3 and Infinity fees and CAKE emissions would fall ~69%, but one whale leads a 98% no.

PancakeSwap Flip vote: 98% Against as Saturday Close Nears
tl;dr
  • "The Flip" raises the LP share of swap fees to 88% on PancakeSwap v3 and Infinity across 11 chains, with 12% left for the Treasury.
  • Daily CAKE emissions would drop from 22,500 to 11,000, then to 7,000 once supply is 20% below its April 2025 level.
  • Tallies reported on October 21-22 showed about 999,487 veCAKE against and 22,202 for, with a single address casting about 765,559 of the no votes.

The PancakeSwap Flip vote closes on Saturday, October 24, at 08:07 UTC, and right now it is getting crushed. The proposal would hand liquidity providers 88% of swap fees on v3 and Infinity pools and cut daily CAKE emissions by about 69%, but early tallies show roughly 98% of voting weight against it, and most of that weight sits in one wallet.

What actually happened

PancakeSwap's core team, known as the Kitchen, put "The Flip" up for a governance vote on October 21. The pitch is a trade: liquidity providers get a much bigger slice of trading fees, and in return the protocol mints far fewer new CAKE tokens every day.

Under the plan, LPs on v3 and Infinity pools would keep 88% of swap fees. Today most of those pools pay LPs somewhere between 66% and 68%. The remaining 12% would go to the Treasury, and the non-stablecoin part of that cut would still fund CAKE buybacks. The older v2 pools stay untouched, because v2 is what the team calls its main burn engine, sending 23% of swap fees to burns.

The 11 chains in scope are BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Solana, Robinhood Chain, Monad, Arc, zkSync, Linea and opBNB. If the proposal passes, migration would start in November, with roughly one chain switched per week over about three months.

Based on 2025 volume, the team estimates LPs would earn about $62 million more per year once everything is migrated. That is the team's own projection, not a guarantee.

The emissions math behind the PancakeSwap Flip vote

The token side is where holders should look closely. Step one cuts daily issuance from 22,500 CAKE to 11,000 during the rollout. Step two takes it down to 7,000 a day, but only once total CAKE supply is 20% below its April 2025 level, when Tokenomics 3.0 took effect.

According to TokenPost, supply was 11.5% below that level in October 2026, so the second cut is not around the corner. The team expects it roughly 12 months after step one. The remaining 7,000 CAKE per day would flow to the Pantry, PancakeSwap's ecosystem growth fund.

There is one quirk worth knowing. On existing Infinity pools, the LP fee was fixed when each pool was created, so lowering the protocol cut reduces the total swap fee instead of raising the LP share. The proposal's own example: a pool charging 1% would drop to roughly 0.76%, with about 0.67 percentage points going to LPs.

Fewer CAKE minted, more fees to LPs, less protocol revenue for buybacks. That is the whole trade in one line.

Why the tally looks so lopsided

Here is the spicy part. As reported by Altcoin Buzz and CryptoTicker, the count stood at about 999,486.88 veCAKE against and 22,201.52 for, from only 21 votes. That reads like a 97.8% rejection.

But one address, shortened to 0x3D...e1ad, cast about 765,559 votes against. That is roughly three quarters of all weight cast. Nobody has publicly said who controls it or why it opposes the plan. So the headline number is less a community verdict and more one whale's opinion, at least so far.

Only CAKE locked as veCAKE can vote, and weight depends on the amount and the remaining lock time. A single large holder can flip the result in one transaction before the close, which is why nobody serious is calling it yet. The PancakeSwap Flip vote is not over until the window shuts.

If it fails, the current fee split and the 22,500 CAKE daily emission rate stay in place, and the Kitchen would need a fresh proposal. For context on how other DEXs have reshaped token supply this year, see our Aero merger launch breakdown and our note on the Cronos CRO burn.

What to do as a reader

If you hold locked veCAKE, check the official PancakeSwap voting page before Saturday 08:07 UTC, which is 11:07 in Moscow and 4:07 a.m. in New York. Read the full text, not just the summary. CAKE sitting on an exchange cannot vote, and a new lock will not help in time.

If you are an LP, map your positions. On v3 and new Infinity pools your fee share would rise. On existing Infinity pools you would get a cheaper pool rather than a bigger cut per trade.

If you just hold CAKE, the question is whether lower emissions outweigh a smaller buyback budget. That depends on trading volume, and nobody can promise how it plays out.
