LayerZero Zero mainnet goes live Nov 30 with lzATLAS

The LayerZero Zero mainnet and the lzATLAS trading venue go live on November 30, 2026, LayerZero said on October 20, with 75% of post-venue ATLAS fees set to burn ZRO.

tl;dr
  • Zero splits work into "zones", such as an EVM zone, a trading zone and a private payments zone, and uses zero-knowledge proofs to tie them together.
  • Open ATLAS is set to launch with more than 12 trading venues plugged in.
  • 75% of ATLAS fees left after venues take their cut will go to buying back and burning ZRO, according to the announcement.

The LayerZero Zero mainnet now has a date: November 30, 2026. LayerZero said on October 20 that Zero, its new high-throughput blockchain, and lzATLAS, a trading venue built on it, will both go live that day. The pitch is very big numbers: Zero targets around 2 million transactions per second, and lzATLAS was provisioned for 200,000 TPS with sub-millisecond latency in testing, per Crypto Briefing.

What actually happened

LayerZero is best known as a messaging protocol that lets chains talk to each other. In February 2026 it announced Zero, a chain of its own, with names like Citadel Securities and Google Cloud attached to the launch. In August it added ATLAS, a trading layer for on-chain markets. On October 20 it put both on a calendar.

Crypto Briefing reported the November 30 date and the throughput targets. The LayerZero community thread, collected by Outposts, opened with "The countdown begins" and said institutions were already testing with flows that include US equities. Those are LayerZero's own claims; no outside group has measured Zero's speed in production yet.

Why does it matter? LayerZero already sits between dozens of chains as a messaging layer. Running its own chain, with its own trading venue, moves it from plumbing provider to destination. That is a bigger business if it works, and a direct challenge to the fast chains and exchanges that currently use its messaging.

How the LayerZero Zero mainnet is supposed to work

Instead of one chain doing everything, Zero uses zones. Each zone is tuned for a job: general smart contracts, high-speed trading, or private payments. Zero-knowledge proofs let zones settle with each other without every node running every transaction. That design is how the team gets to the 2 million TPS target on paper.

lzATLAS sits on top as the trading layer. Open ATLAS lets outside venues plug in, and LayerZero says more than 12 will be there at launch. The fee design is the part ZRO holders care about: three quarters of the protocol's share of ATLAS fees goes to buy ZRO on the market and burn it.

2 million TPS is a target, not a measurement. Mainnet traffic is where those numbers get tested.

The ZRO angle

At 05:59 UTC on October 22, CoinGecko had ZRO at about $1.90, down roughly 6% over 24 hours. So far, the date has not lifted the token. That fits a market that has seen many buyback promises.

The burn only matters if ATLAS generates real fees. If venues bring volume, buy pressure follows. If they do not, 75% of very little is still very little. Unlocks are the other side of the ledger, and our LayerZero ZRO unlock piece covers the supply schedule. Before launch, nobody can say which side wins.

What to watch before November 30

First, the venue list. "More than 12" is a number, not names. Who actually plugs in will tell you whether ATLAS gets real trading flow.

Second, testnet results that outsiders can check. Throughput claims from the team are a start. Public dashboards and third-party tests are better.

Third, the equities angle. Tokenized stock trading is hot this year, and LayerZero hinted at institutions testing US equity flows. Any official partner announcement there would be a big signal. Merger and consolidation stories around DEXs, like the one in our Aero merger piece, show how fast trading venues can shift.

What to do as a reader

If you are a builder, read the Zero docs and pick a zone before mainnet rather than after. If you are a trader, treat November 30 as a known event that is already public, which means it may already be priced in by the time it arrives.

Be careful with fake "Zero airdrop" or "ATLAS early access" links. LayerZero has not announced a new token for Zero, and the LayerZero Zero mainnet does not need one. Nothing here is investment advice.
