FungoLabs Genesis: 3,232 Encrypted NFTs on Zama FHEVM
FungoLabs Genesis plans 3,232 sealed Ethereum NFTs on Zama’s FHEVM: holder-controlled art publish, permanently encrypted essence, and 500 gas-only free mints.
Early story. Some claims here are not officially confirmed yet. We update this post as it confirms.

- Supply split on the site: 2,500 sale paid in cZAMA, 500 free mints shared by whitelist and nominees (gas only), 232 team.
- Whitelist flow is X-account based with manual review; Fungo says approved users link a wallet only days before mint, and that the team will never DM first asking for keys.
- October 14 social coverage focused on applicants watching “in review” statuses as the team works through the free-mint list.

FungoLabs Genesis is the rare NFT mint pitch that leads with cryptography instead of a roadmap JPEG. The project’s site describes 3,232 sealed Ethereum NFTs built on Zama’s FHEVM: art the holder can publish or keep sealed, and an “essence” (class, stats, element) that stays encrypted on-chain for good.
What actually happened
Ordinary NFTs leak every trait the second metadata resolves. FungoLabs Genesis flips that using fully homomorphic encryption so contracts can compute on values they cannot read. At mint, the contract draws encrypted look and essence values with Zama on-chain randomness — no metadata server sweetheart list, per the project’s own explanation.
The public marketplace view stays boring on purpose: a sealed mark and “Revealed: No” until a holder publishes art. Essence never gets a public reveal function. That is the whole product joke and the technical claim. Fungo Labs positions itself as an independent team building on Zama, not as Zama itself.
Operationally we are still pre-mint. The live action is whitelist applications and manual review, which matches the X-news cluster about sealed status cards and “I’m in” screenshots. Treat those screenshots as community anecdotes unless Fungo posts an official tally.
Why encrypted NFTs are suddenly a story
FHE on Ethereum mainnet stopped being pure research theater once Zama’s stack made confidential tokens and encrypted state feel shippable. Fungo is betting the first consumer-facing object people understand is an NFT that can hide a stat block and still duel later. Whether games arrive is future tense; the genesis collection is the beachhead.
Compare the trust model with transparent mint culture we usually cover in tessa-airdrop or marketplace-risk stories like blur-frontend-shutdown. Different problems, same reader question: who can see what, and who can rug the metadata.
If rarity is public by default, snipers win. If essence stays encrypted, the holder keeps a private power budget.
Risks and unfinished business
Sale mechanics in cZAMA are “details soon.” Nominee rules are “announced soon.” Game and launchpad phases are ordered after genesis. Those are explicit placeholders on fungolabs.org, so anyone promising dates beyond that is ahead of the source. Confirmations for the technical design can track the public docs and Zama dependency; confirmations for mint fairness stay pending until contract addresses and audit materials are public.
Phishing is the obvious attack surface. The site’s own FAQ says applying never asks for a wallet or signature today. Mirror that discipline.
What to do as a reader
If FungoLabs Genesis is on your radar, read the primary site end-to-end, apply only through fungolabs.org / official X, and ignore DM helpers. Primary: fungolabs.org.
For FHE context elsewhere in crypto, keep Zama-related reading separate from price talk — this collection is not a ZAMA token proxy just because the sale may quote cZAMA. Nothing here is investment advice.
FungoLabs Genesis also forces a vocabulary upgrade for NFT reporters. “Reveal” usually means a metadata URI flip. Here, reveal is a holder-controlled publish path for art, while essence stays dark. If you write about the collection, keep those layers distinct or you will mis-explain the product.
Security reviewers will eventually ask for contract addresses, entropy sources and whether any admin path can decrypt essence. Until those materials are public, the honest confirmations score stays below a full six even though the website is detailed. Detail is not a mainnet audit.
If you apply for the whitelist, document the URL bar every time. Phishing sites love seasons where manual review screenshots circulate. Fungo’s own FAQ is unusually explicit about DM policy — use that as your checklist, not a Discord moderator’s improvisation.
One more practical note for collectors: publishing art is irreversible on Fungo’s stated design, while essence stays private even after a sale ends the previous holder’s view. That asymmetry will confuse OpenSea-style muscle memory. Educate your readers before the mint window, not during a gas spike.
We will watch for contract addresses, audit PDFs and the cZAMA sale rulebook as the next confirmation upgrades. Until those land, enjoy the cryptography essay and keep your seed phrase offline.
