Early story. Some claims here are not officially confirmed yet. We update this post as it confirms.

The Bitcoin above 84000 Polymarket rung was 78% while the card was still open
tl;dr
  • On Bitcoin above 84000 Polymarket, the 84,000 Yes price on this open-card read was 78%, Buy Yes 78¢. Rungs from 74,000 through 78,000 showed 100%.
  • A few displayed percents do not match the Buy Yes cents beside them. This piece will not smooth those gaps.
  • CoinDesk's live blog is a separate tape: $84,800 at 1:46 p.m. EDT on 1 Oct, and an earlier update on the same page at just under $84,000.

The Bitcoin above 84000 Polymarket ladder was still open when this card was fetched on 2 Oct 2026. The event asks "Bitcoin above ___ on October 2?" On that open card, the 84,000 rung showed 78% Yes, with Buy Yes at 78¢. That is a snapshot from while the card was still open, not a resolution and not a final print of where bitcoin finished the day.

What actually happened

The ladder lives at the Polymarket event Bitcoin above ___ on October 2?. Volume was $1,038,646. The card opened 25 Sep 2026 at 12:00 p.m. ET.

The end date is 2 Oct 2026. All of the percents below belong to a fetch taken while that card was still open on 2 Oct 2026. If you are reading after settlement, do not treat this article as the settled result. The pack does not contain a resolution.

This item is filed with 5 confirmations and a hype-gas reading of 64. Five confirmations fits a directly fetched card plus a CoinDesk live blog sitting next to it. Hype gas at 64 is warm, not a siren.

A one-day price ladder will always look urgent in a timeline. The useful posture is colder: write down the rung, the percent, the cent price, and the fact that the market had not closed.

The rungs, as the card showed them, run like this. Above 74,000: 100%. Above 76,000: 100%.

Above 78,000: 100%, with Buy Yes at 99.9¢. Above 80,000: 99%, with Buy Yes at 99.3¢. Above 82,000: 98%, with Buy Yes at 98.0¢.

Above 84,000: 78%, with Buy Yes at 78¢. Above 86,000: 18%, with Buy Yes at 18¢. Above 88,000: 2%, with Buy Yes at 2.6¢. Above 90,000: under 1%, with Buy Yes at 0.5¢.

Read that list as a shape, not as a forecast you have to obey. On this snapshot the crowd had the lower rungs, 74,000 and 76,000 and 78,000, at a displayed 100%. The step-down starts in earnest around 84,000, where Yes was 78%, and then falls hard: 18% at 86,000, 2% at 88,000, and under 1% at 90,000.

The market was pricing a cluster near the low-80,000s as very likely on an open card, and pricing a run through 88,000 or 90,000 as a long shot, at the moment of the fetch. "At the moment" is the whole disclaimer.

74,000 and 76,000 are listed at 100% without a separate Buy Yes price in this pack. Do not invent 100¢, or 99¢, or any other cent price for those two rungs. Absence of a cent quote is not a hidden quote.

On Bitcoin above 84000 Polymarket, the 78,000 rung is the first one in the pack that carries both a percent and a cent price, and those two do not match. More on that in a second. The point here is clerical honesty.

Volume of $1,038,646 says the ladder was not empty. It does not say the 78% was "right." An open market with a 2 Oct 2026 end date can still trade after a screenshot.

The open time, 25 Sep 2026 at 12:00 p.m. ET, only tells you when this card started. It does not tell you the path of every trade in between. This pack does not include that path. Do not sketch one.

What Polymarket thinks

What this card thought, while it was open, is the rung table. The keyword people are searching is the 84,000 line, so say it cleanly. Yes on bitcoin above 84,000 was 78%, and Buy Yes was 78¢, on a card that had not resolved.

The next rung up, 86,000, was 18% and 18¢. The next, 88,000, was a displayed 2% with Buy Yes at 2.6¢. The 90,000 rung was under 1% with Buy Yes at 0.5¢.

Above 82,000 was 98% with Buy Yes at 98.0¢. Above 80,000 was 99% with Buy Yes at 99.3¢.

Some of those pairs match in the obvious way. 84,000 at 78% sits next to 78¢. 86,000 at 18% sits next to 18¢.

82,000 at 98% sits next to 98.0¢. This article can say those pairs match on the snapshot without doing any math on them. Matching is an observation about what the card printed, not a claim that a cent is always a percent.

Other pairs do not match, and they do not get edited. The 78,000 rung showed 100% and a Buy Yes price of 99.9¢. Those are not the same figure.

The 80,000 rung showed 99% and Buy Yes at 99.3¢. The 88,000 rung showed 2% and Buy Yes at 2.6¢. The 90,000 rung showed under 1% and Buy Yes at 0.5¢.

On Bitcoin above 84000 Polymarket, this piece will not average a percent label with a cent price. It will not "fix" 100% down to 99.9, and it will not round 2.6¢ down to 2% and throw away the cent. Both numbers were on the card. A reader who needs one number needs to say which field they mean: the displayed percent, or the Buy Yes price.

Under 1% is not a number you get to replace with 0.5 just because the Buy Yes price is 0.5¢, and 0.5¢ is not a license to write "0.5%" as the displayed odds. The pack says under 1% for the displayed figure and 0.5¢ for the buy price. Keep the words "under 1%." They are the precision the card actually gave.

Nothing in the ladder says bitcoin will close above a given level. A Yes price is what the market was charging for that rung while the question was still live. The question's end date is 2 Oct 2026, which is the same calendar day as the fetch window in this pack.

Same day does not mean settled. The pack says the card was still open. Open means the 78% can be stale by the time a repost finishes loading. If you cite it, cite it as an open-card snapshot from 2 Oct 2026, not as the answer key.

There is no second Polymarket percent in this pack to clash with the ladder, so there is nothing to average against the 78%. The clashes worth respecting are inside the card, where a displayed percent and a Buy Yes price diverge, and between the card and the separate CoinDesk tape. Those stay labeled.

They do not get blended into a fair-value price. This article does not compute a fair value. The pack does not contain one.

The CoinDesk tape beside the ladder

CoinDesk's live blog is the other primary-adjacent source in this pack, and it is not Polymarket. Treat it as a news tape with its own clock. An update at 1:46 p.m. EDT on 1 Oct 2026 said bitcoin was up 1% over 24 hours at $84,800.

An earlier update on the same page said bitcoin was just under $84,000. Those are sequential updates on one live blog, not two outlets fighting, and not a pair of numbers to average into a single "true" price.

The same page, at 7:59 a.m. EDT, said bitcoin rose 42.7% in Q3, the best quarter since a 68.7% rise in Q1 2024, and that ether rose 70.8%. That is a quarter recap sitting on the live blog. It is not a rung on the October 2 ladder, and it is not a prediction about 2 Oct.

Ether's 70.8% quarter is in the pack only as that same update. It does not get a Polymarket card in this article, because no such card is in the source pack.

Put the clocks in one place so the comparison stays honest. Ladder: opened 25 Sep 2026 at 12:00 p.m. ET, still open on the 2 Oct 2026 fetch, end date 2 Oct 2026, 84,000 Yes at 78% and 78¢. CoinDesk price update: 1:46 p.m. EDT on 1 Oct 2026, bitcoin up 1% over 24 hours at $84,800.

On Bitcoin above 84000 Polymarket, earlier on that same page: just under $84,000. Quarter line: 7:59 a.m. EDT, bitcoin up 42.7% in Q3, best since up 68.7% in Q1 2024, ether up 70.8%. A reader can notice that $84,800 is above 84,000 and that "just under $84,000" is not.

Noticing is not settling the ladder. The ladder was still open a day after those blog updates. Spot prints from 1 Oct do not resolve a 2 Oct question.

This recap will not say the 78% "lines up" with $84,800 in any calculated way. Lining up would be a model. The pack gives a snapshot and a live blog.

Side by side is the format. $84,800 is one update. Just under $84,000 is an earlier update on the same page.

Both can be reported. Neither is the resolution of "above 84,000 on October 2," because that resolution is not in the pack.

Do not pull ETF copy or anything else off that CoinDesk URL beyond the updates named here. The pack's usable lines are the 1% / $84,800 update, the earlier just-under-$84,000 update, and the Q3 comparison at 7:59 a.m. EDT. If a paragraph needs a fourth CoinDesk fact, it does not get one.

What to do as a reader

Say the card was open. The first clause, every time, is that this Bitcoin ladder had not resolved when the percents were fetched on 2 Oct 2026. Then give the rung.

84,000 was 78% Yes, Buy Yes 78¢. If you mention neighbors, use the pairs above, and keep mismatched pairs mismatched. 100% with 99.9¢ on the 78,000 rung is a mismatch.

2% with 2.6¢ on the 88,000 rung is a mismatch. Under 1% with 0.5¢ on the 90,000 rung is a mismatch. 99% with 99.3¢ on the 80,000 rung is a mismatch. Do not tidy them.

Keep CoinDesk on its own timestamps. $84,800 is 1:46 p.m. EDT on 1 Oct 2026, and that update also said bitcoin was up 1% over 24 hours. Just under $84,000 is an earlier update on the same live page, not a second source and not a contradiction you should average with $84,800.

The Q3 lines, 42.7% for bitcoin and 70.8% for ether, plus the comparison with a 68.7% Q1 2024, belong to the 7:59 a.m. EDT update. They explain a quarter the blog was recapping. They do not price the 86,000 rung.

Use the market metadata when a post strips it. Volume $1,038,646. Opened 25 Sep 2026, 12:00 p.m. ET.

End date 2 Oct 2026. Still open at fetch. A ladder without those fields is just a column of scary percentages. With those fields, it is a contract that had a start, an end, and a moment when someone looked.

On Bitcoin above 84000 Polymarket, do not turn the shape of the ladder into a trade plan. A stack of 100% prints on the lower rungs and a long-shot print on 90,000 is what this card showed while it was live. It is not an instruction to buy a rung, sell a rung, or assume the 78% must "hit."

Confirmation score 5 means the snapshot and the blog updates are solid enough to quote. Hype gas 64 means the quote will get passed around without the words "still open." Put those words back in. This was not the resolution.
