BATON memecoin record: $20M Peak, Then $13.8M by Morning
The BATON memecoin record topped a $20M cap on Oct 12 per TokenPost, then faded to about $13.8M by 06:05 UTC Oct 13 on CoinGecko. No official Pump.fun tie.
Early story. Some claims here are not officially confirmed yet. We update this post as it confirms.

- TokenPost, Oct 12: record above $20M market cap, then $18.22M, with a 41.11% 24-hour gain. CoinGecko lists the all-time high at about $0.01996, stamped 06:28 UTC October 12.
- CoinGecko, 06:05 UTC Oct 13: about $0.01383, a ~$13.84M cap, ~$1.74M 24h volume, −25.2% over 24 hours but +90.7% over seven days.
- BATON has no official affiliation with Pump.fun. Odaily, via KuCoin's news feed, called it a community meme token that only borrows the narrative.

The BATON memecoin record lasted about a day. BATON, a Solana meme token named after Baton Corporation, the company linked to Pump.fun's origins, briefly topped a $20 million market cap on October 12, according to TokenPost, before settling near $18.22 million. By 06:05 UTC on October 13, CoinGecko showed it around $13.8 million, down about 25% in 24 hours.
What actually happened
TokenPost reported early on October 12 that BATON briefly passed a $20M market cap, a new high, during a sharp 24-hour run. It then cooled to about $18.22M, with the day's gain at 41.11%.
This is not BATON's first record. On September 13, Odaily reported, via KuCoin's news flash, that the token briefly topped $18M overnight on GMGN data, up 86.8% in 24 hours, before sliding to about $12.3M. So the October run beat a high set a month earlier, then gave a chunk back again.
The pattern is the same both times: a fast spike to a new cap, then a quick fade of roughly a third. That is classic trench behavior, not a sign anything has fundamentally changed.
The Baton Corporation lore
The name is the whole pitch. TokenPost says BATON references Baton Corporation, which it calls the predecessor to Pump.fun. Odaily describes Baton Corporation as the company behind Pump.fun and mentions an early project called Baton Finance. We're quoting both framings rather than picking one.
Either way, the token has no official link. Odaily says it "merely borrows the associated narrative." The main pool on DexScreener pairs BATON against PUMP, Pump.fun's platform token, which ties its price action even closer to Pump.fun sentiment.
That lore-trading lane is busy. We've covered Pump.fun-adjacent plays in our PUMP buyback and burn explainer and our pump.fun treasury note. When PUMP is hot, its satellites tend to move harder in both directions.
The morning-after numbers
CoinGecko's API at 06:05 UTC on October 13 put BATON near $0.01383, with a ~$13.84M market cap and about $1.74M in 24h volume. Its 24-hour range ran from about $0.01248 to $0.01828, and circulating supply is listed near 998.7M tokens.
DexScreener at about the same time showed the main BATON/PUMP PumpSwap pool with roughly $751K of liquidity, and a Meteora SOL pool with about $1.35M of 24h volume. We list those pools separately rather than adding them up.
The BATON memecoin record and this morning's print are about $6M of market cap apart. If you're comparing headlines, check the timestamp. A "$20M" story and a "$13.8M" chart can both be true, just hours apart.
Records in the trenches are timestamps, not floors.
Why PUMP pairing matters
Most Solana memecoins quote against SOL or USDC. BATON's deepest pool on DexScreener is against PUMP. That means a holder is effectively exposed to two volatile assets at once: BATON itself and the token on the other side of the pool.
If PUMP rallies, BATON can look strong in dollar terms even if nothing changed in its own pool. If PUMP dumps, the reverse happens. Our PUMP October unlock piece is useful context on what can move PUMP itself this month.
Volume is the tell to watch next. CoinGecko's ~$1.74M of 24h volume against a ~$13.8M cap is active but not frantic. If volume dries up while price drifts, the record is probably behind it for now. If volume spikes again with PUMP strength, a third attempt is on the table.
What to do as a reader
Match the contract. DexScreener and OpenSea list BATON at Hg5Ja55T5wESq4vyFoiVCMeHXtGyVA69X2UHq8hgpump. Search results also show other tokens using the BATON ticker, including a "Baton Launchpad" coin, so ticker alone is not enough.
Respect the round trips. Two records in a month, each followed by a quick fade of about a third, is the base case for this kind of token, not the exception.
Don't treat the Baton Corporation link as an endorsement. Until Pump.fun says otherwise, the BATON memecoin record is a community trade on a name, and it can unwind just as fast. Nothing here is investment advice.
Not financial advice. DYOR, ser.
